Celebrating 20 Years of Bridging the Justice Gap: 2002-2022

CDCVAS celebrated 20 years in 2022! This video created by Heirloom Creatives shares the story of the organization from the early years to today! CDCVAS was founded by the Chelan Douglas Bar Association in 2002 to ensure that folks in our community coming from poverty could still have access to high-quality legal help. The mission remains strong but has grown to better meet the needs of those most vulnerable.

Nonprofits receive funds left from homeowner lock-out settlement

We so blessed and grateful to Clay Gatens of Gatens Green Weidenbach PLLC, for his dedication to seeking justice for homeowners wrongly locked out of their homes during foreclosure. This is the work of super heroes and Clay is certainly a super hero in our book!

When Clay shared the news of this AMAZING donation and why he chose to include CDCVAS as a recipient of the unclaimed funds, he told us that the first call he received over 10 years ago from a woman locked out of her home, could have easily been a CDCVAS client. He knows how important access to justice is, especially for families who are struggling financially.

As shared on a KOHO 101.1 radio interview, we shared that this incredible gift is nothing short of a miracle in these unprecedented times. At present, the Board of Directors of CDCVAS is discussing how to ensure that these funds preserve the long-term capacity of our program provide free, civil legal aid to the thousands of families that will need help through this pandemic and in the years that follow.

We are beyond grateful to Clay and to the entire legal community for their zealous pursuit of justice and endless generosity!

2019 Justice Gala-We Rise By Lifting Others, June 1, 2019

The 2019 Justice Gala was an incredible event, the first of it’s kind for the legal community. Click here to see the event album, thanks to our friends at JP Portrait Studio.

The Justice Gala celebrates the incredible contributions of our legal community and community partners to lift up individuals and families coming from poverty who are struggling with civil  legal problems. It is the organization’s largest and most critical fundraiser. All proceeds support Chelan Douglas County Volunteer Attorney Services, a non-profit established in 2002 by the Chelan Douglas Bar Association to ensure that income is not a barrier to accessing legal help. The program relies on generous pro bono service from local attorneys and your financial support to provide free civil legal services to low-income people in Chelan and Douglas counties.
