On February 14, 2002, Chelan Douglas County Volunteer Attorney Services was incorporated as a non-profit organization. The development of CDCVAS was initiated by attorney Russ Speidel, then president of the Chelan Douglas Bar Association, in partnership with other attorneys and the Community Action Council. CDCVAS was established to respond to the growing need for coordinated, organized, and accessible legal aid services.
The Chelan Douglas Bar Association (CDBA) is one of CDCVAS’s most valued partners and supporters. The CDBA makes a regular, generous donation, supporting events like the Justice Gala, Law Day and the CDBA Talent Show, maximizing profits and proceeds. Their event sponsorship guarantees that more of the money raised during our special events will help local people have better access to free legal help through Chelan Douglas Volunteer Attorney Services.
A majority of the attorneys within the Chelan Douglas Bar Association volunteer their time to help those in need, volunteer on the board of directors, or make financial gifts. The CDBA is the founder and backbone of the organization. Their continued support ensures the organization fulfills the mission set forth by the founding board members/attorneys in 2002.
